The much-awaited Asia Cup 2025 will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 9 to September 28, the news being confirmed by Asain Cricket Council (ACC) President and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. The Continental Cup 2025 event will be played in the T20I format with eight teams participating in the tournament - India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, Hong Kong, Oman, and the UAE.
At the latest ACC's Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Dhaka, on July 23, the Asia Cup was one of the key points on the agenda. The Continental Cup 2025 event was a bit uncertain following the India-Pakistan military conflict in May. Naqvi addressed the media following the conclusion of that meeting, though the dates of the Asia Cup 2025 have not been officially confirmed.
The Asia Cup 2025 event will not be played in India
For the unversed, India was the original host of the Asia Cup 2025 event. However, with a recent India-Pakistan agreement, the matches between these two teams will be played in a neutral venue provided for the other side for three years. The deal was made ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025 event played in Pakistan earlier this year.

India played all their games in Dubai and went on to clinch the title, as they also qualified for the final played in Dubai. It is also not confirmed if the two Asian countries will be placed in the same group - as it has always been the case for close to two decades - though it is likely confirmed. These two teams being in the same group is financially lucrative for the tournament. The Asia Cup format will see India-Pakistan meet at least two times, and then leave the possibility of meeting for the third time as well, if both these teams qualify for the final in the Continental Cup.
