Bangladesh All-Rounder Mehidy Hasan Bags ICC Men’s Player of the Month award

Premier Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan has won the ICC Player Of The Month Award for April 2025. This is the first award of this kind for Mehidy.

Mehidy has a memorable Test series against Zimbabwe where he finished with  116 runs in two Tests at an average of 38.66 and 15 wickets at an average of 11.86. In the first Test in Sylhet, he bagged consecutive fifers in the two innings of the Test match.

Mehidy becomes the third Bangladeshi cricketer after former captains Shakib Al Hasan and Musfiqur Rahim to win the award.

Miraz 3rd Bangladeshi To Win The Award After Shakib, Mushfiqur

The 27-year-old picked 5/52 in the first innings and 5/50 in the second innings. However, despite his best efforts, Zimbabwe won the first Test by three wickets. Bangladesh made a resounding comeback in the second Test, winning it by an innings and 106 runs.

In the second Test, Miraz scored 104 runs off 162 balls in the first innings to power the Tigers to a total of 400 which was enough for them to seal an innings victory.

The Bangladesh all-rounder was elated after winning the award. He has been an integral part of Bangladesh's success across formats in the last decade.

"It’s an incredible honour to win the ICC Men’s Player of the Month. The ICC Awards are the ultimate recognition for any cricketer, and to receive this from a global vote means a lot to me," the all-rounder stated.

Feels Special, Says Mehidy Hasan Miraz

Miraz recalled winning the Player Of The Tournament in the 2016 U-19 World Cup and said that this award holds the same importance in his life.

"Moments like these remind me of my journey — being named Player of the Tournament in the 2016 ICC Under 19 World Cup was a massive encouragement early in my career, and this award feels just as special" he concluded saying.
