Gujarat Titans (GT) will bump heads with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 67th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) scheduled to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 25.
With a place in the top two still up for grabs, GT head into this clash with plenty to play for. On the other hand, CSK are out of the running to secure a playoff spot.
Gujarat have had an impressive run this season. They occupy the numero uno position on the IPL 2025 points table. GT have won nine out of their 13 matches so far. One more victory would take them to 20 points, which would be enough to guarantee a top-two finish and secure a spot in Qualifier 1. This offers a safety net with a second shot at making the final.
Their strong campaign has been powered by a top-order that has been in sublime form. Shubman Gill (636 runs) and Sai Sudharsan (638 runs) are the top-scorers not just for GT but the entire tournament. Jos Buttler has scored 533 runs so far.
In the bowling department, Prasidh Krishna has stood out. He has taken 21 wickets and shares the top spot on the wickets tally this season.
On the other hand, it has been a disappointing year for Chennai. With just three wins in 13 matches, the five-time champions are knocked out before the playoffs.
CSK's season never really took off. Their fans were hopeful that MS Dhoni's return as the captain mid-season would change their fortunes but things only got worse.
Despite all of this, GT will be aware of CSK's ability to surprise, particularly since their devastating loss in the 2023 final.
