ICC Announces Prize Money For WTC 2025 Final
The ICC has announced a prize money of 30.78 crores for the WTC 2025 champions. This is more than twice the prize money that was given in the WTC 2023 final (13.23 crores). The prize money for the runners-up of WTC 2025 will be given a prize money of 18.46 crores as compared to just 6.61 crores for the WTC 2023 runners-up.
The increase in the amount of the prize money goes to show the importance the ICC has given to these finals. It also highlights the work that has gone behind making Test matches competitive since the World Test Championship started in 2019.
The ICC Chairman Jay Shah spoke about the increase in prize money after it was officially announced. He also wished the two finalists before the final at Lord's from June 11-15.
“We have witnessed a very interesting third cycle of the ICC World Test Championship, where the finalists were decided only towards the end of the competition. The championship has showcased remarkable performances from players of different teams, culminating in a final between these two exceptional squads - a true celebration of cricket.
“I am sure spectators at Lord’s, along with fans tuning in from all over the world, will be treated to some top-class cricket in this revered format when Australia and South Africa take the field less than a month from now. On behalf of the ICC, I extend best wishes to the players of both teams in their preparations for the prestigious match," Jay Shah said.
