Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are taking on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in match 49 of IPL 2025 in Chennai on Wednesday, April 30. They are in a must-win territory heading into this game.
CSK are placed last on the points table with four points and need to win all of their remaining games to make the playoffs. In this game, PBKS won the toss and opted to field first.
Chennai Super Kings did not have the best of starts. Their move to back the young Indian openers did not pay off as both were dismissed cheaply.

Shaik Rasheed (11 runs off 12 balls) was dismissed by Arshdeep Singh (17 runs for 1 wicket) in the third over. His opening partner, Ayush Mhatre (7 runs off 6 balls) was dismissed in the fourth over by Marco Jansen (10 runs for 1 wicket)
Sam Curran (29 runs off 16 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (17 runs off 12 balls) added 26 runs together. Jadeja hit Harpreet Brar (20 runs for 1 wicket) for three boundaries in his very first over but then was dismissed by him in the same over. He knicked off Jadeja to Josh Inglish.
Brevis-Curran Added 41 Off 25 Balls Since Coming Together
Since then, Curran and Dewald Brevis (19 runs off 13 balls) have taken the innings forward. Yuzvendra Chahal bowled his first two overs remaining wicketless and conceding 23 runs.

As said above, after losing seven out of their first 10 games, CSK are placed last on the IPL 2025 points table and are in a must-win territory. A loss for Chennai against PBKS will all but end their hopes of making the playoffs.
