"Main Game Nahi Change Karoonga" - Rohit Sharma Lays Down His T20 Template On His 38th Birthday

Rohit Sharma on his T20 template

Rohit Sharma is celebrating his 38th birthday on April 30, Tuesday. His team, the Mumbai Indians, are happily placed second on the points table as of now.

After a slowish start, Rohit seems to have found his form with two fifties in his last three innings. He has continued to play an attacking brand of cricket in the season.

He started that method of play consciously during the T20 World Cup 2024 in the Caribbean. He has continued with the process in this edition of the IPL.

He spoke about his high-risk, high-reward method of cricket in the T20 format and said that he will continue to play in the same vein. Having retired from T20 cricket last year after the World Cup, Rohit will play T20 cricket for the Mumbai Indians. Apart from the IPL, he might also fancy playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the country's domestic T20 tournament.

Milestones Wala Game Nahi Hai Mera - Rohit Sharma On His Batting Template

Rohit Sharma admitted that his style of play does not always pay off but is mighty effective whenever it comes off. In the process, he confirmed that he would not be changing his style of play in the future.

“Main game nahi change karoonga! (I won’t change my game!) The team has given me a role, I will continue playing that. Milestones wala game nahi hai mera (My game is not about chasing milestones). My focus is on contributing runs. Who doesn’t like making runs? I certainly do! I’ve been repeating this for years now. Pareshaan ho chuka hoon (I’m tired) repeating this same answer. Of course, I get disappointed when the runs don’t come when you cannot contribute runs. You hurt when that happens.
“But I don’t want to abandon my game. I know it’s very risky, you will get out. But that doesn’t mean I don’t care that I am getting out or that I am not thinking about how I can contribute more runs to the team cause,” Rohit said in an interview with journalist Vimal Kumar.

Speaking about MI's IPL 2025 season so far, they are placed second on the IPL 2025 points table as of now. They are one of the three teams on 12 points and would like to get to 16 or 18 to ensure a spot in the playoffs. They have four more league games remaining.
