India’s Rishabh Pant has created a big record during the ongoing Edgbaston Test against England. The left-hander has become the first wicketkeeper-batter from Asia to score 2,000 Test runs in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) countries. No other Asian keeper has managed this feat before. Pant reached the milestone during India’s second innings against England.
In that innings, Pant looked in full flow. He came in at a crucial stage when India were 126/3. He attacked the bowlers from the start and hit the boundaries regularly to keep the scoreboard moving.
Rishabh Pant formed a 110-run stand for the fourth wicket with Shubman Gill and helped India gain further control over the match. He scored 65 runs off 58 balls and was eventually dismissed by Shoaib Bashir.

First to 2000! Rishabh Pant Sets Asian Wicket-Keeper Record in SENA Nations
As Pant became the first wicketkeeper-batter from Asia to score 2,000 runs in SENA nations, this feat shows how far he has come in Test cricket.
Earlier in the series, during the Headingley Test, Pant had gone past MS Dhoni to become the highest run-scorer among Asian wicketkeeper-batters in SENA countries. He has now extended that lead.
His record is even more impressive because SENA conditions are known to be tough for batters. But Pant has found a way to score. His performances overseas have been one of India’s biggest positives in Test cricket in recent years.
Shubman Gill in Record Run-Spree at Edgbaston
Meanwhile, Gill has now scored over 500 runs in the ongoing series. He already has scored most runs by an Indian Test captain in his debut series with still three matches to go.
The 25-year-old scored the eighth Test century of his career. He had also scored a double-hundred in the first innings as well. With this, he has scored most runs in a men's Test match for India.
India had stretched their lead to 484 runs, putting England under serious pressure. At the time of writing, the visitors have reached 304/4 in their second innings with Gill unbeaten on 100 and Ravindra Jadeja on 25.
England have looked flat in the field and are just awaiting India’s declaration.
