Bumrah with 4-wicket haul

The Lucknow Super Giants' openers, Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram, stepped onto the field to chase down the 216 runs set by the Mumbai Indians. Trent Boult opened the bowling for the home team, starting with a 9-run over that included two boundaries. T

Super Giants openers got off to a high-scoring start, taking on Deepak Chahar in the second over. However, Hardik Pandya brought in Jasprit Bumrah, who quickly made an impact by dismissing Aiden Markram, breaking LSG's momentum. Despite this setback, LSG had a strong powerplay, finishing with 60/1 on the board, thanks to Deepak Chahar's 20-run over, with Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh at the crease.

Nicholas Pooran failed to convert his start

Nicholas Pooran, who started well, was dismissed by Will Jacks for 27 runs off 15 balls immediately after the powerplay. Rishabh Pant then came to the crease, scoring a boundary but losing his wicket on the next ball to a failed reverse sweep, with Karn Sharma taking the catch. LSG quickly found themselves at 3 wickets down.

Ayush Badoni joined Mitchell Marsh and steadied the innings as the required run rate climbed above 12. Badoni targeted Karn Sharma's over, scoring 20 runs and bringing LSG to 103/3 at the end of the 10th over, needing 113 runs from 60 balls.

Corbin Bosch was introduced and conceded only 6 runs in the 11th over, halting LSG's momentum. In the following over, LSG lost Mitchell Marsh for 34 runs off 24 balls, as Trent Boult's slower ball deceived him, with Tilak Varma taking a superb catch.

David Miller entered as the Impact Player, and along with Badoni, they found occasional boundaries, helping LSG reach 134/4 by the end of the 14th over when a timeout was taken. Boult, back in the attack, dismissed Ayush Badoni for 35 runs off 22 balls, leaving him frustrated.

Jasprit Bumrah's magical over

Jasprit Bumrah, bowling the next over, took out three LSG batters: David Miller, Abdul Samad, and Avesh Khan.

Bumrah's exceptional bowling shifted the match firmly in Mumbai's favor, with LSG suddenly slipping from 134/4 to 142/8 in just two overs. The tail-enders fought back, with Ravi Bishnoi hitting two sixes, but it was ultimately an impossible task. LSG was all out for 161 runs, losing by 54 runs as Mumbai Indians secured their fifth consecutive victory in the IPL 2025.

For LSG, poor shot selection and some on-field decisions contributed to their second consecutive defeat. Jasprit Bumrah's four-wicket haul and Trent Boult's three-wicket haul were pivotal in Mumbai's clinical win during this revenge week.

MI moves to second spot

As a result, the Mumbai Indians climbed to second place in the points table, while LSG remained in sixth position, with their Net Run Rate declining further. Be sure to tune in as Delhi Capitals take on Royal Challengers Bangalore next in the exciting double-header on Sunday.
