Ryan Rickelton and Temba Bavuma have ensured South Africa got off to a solid start against Afghanistan in their opening Champions Trophy fixture in Lahore. After losing Tony de Zorzi early for (11), Rickelton and skipper Bavuma have steadied the South African innings by batting sensibly in the first 20 overs. The former got to the maiden CT half-century and was the more aggressor of the two.
The wicketkeeper batter targeted Rashid Khan, Farooqi, and Omarzai, and is looking good to convert his fifty into a big score. Meanwhile, skipper Bavuma was happy to play second fiddle to Rickelton in the steady second-wicket partnership. For Afghanistan, who were relying on the spin to have a huge say on the Lahore pitch, so far failed to get any assistance.

South Africa eye big score against Afghanisthan in Lahore
With Rickelton and Bavuma providing a solid base, South Africa would be hoping to cash in on the opportunity and post a score above 300. The pitch is not having any demons, and both batters are scoring runs at a fair clip. With batters like Aiden Markram, Rassie van der Dussen, and David Miller to follow, the signs are not good for Afghanistan.
