Shresta Iyer, sister of Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer, has responded strongly to online trolls who targeted her after PBKS’ seven-wicket defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Match 37 of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025).
For the unversed, Shresta, who was seen cheering for her brother and Punjab Kings, found herself at the receiving end of vicious online trolling. Unfazed, the talented dancer and choreographer took to Instagram with a powerful post, calling out the "shallow mindset" of detractors who blamed her presence for the team’s loss on Sunday.
"It's honestly disappointing to see people stoop so low as to blame the family for simply showing up to support. Whether we're physically present or cheering from afar, our support for the team is unwavering. To those pointing fingers at me, your shallow mindset is not only laughable, it's embarrassing. I've been there for countless matches, India's and others and most of them ended in victory. But I guess when you're busy trolling from behind a screen, facts don't matter," Shresta shared on her Instagram story.
She remains unshaken by the swarm of keyboard warriors, restating that she will always be by her brother’s side, whether he wins or loses.
"I am, and always will be, a proud and positive supporter of my brother and his team. Your baseless criticism doesn't shake me, it just shows your ignorance. Win or lose, I'll be right there supporting them, because that's what real support looks like. Today just wasn't their day. But losses are a part of the game, something you'd know if you had ever done more than type out hate online. So next time, think twice before coming for someone, who's actually doing what you can't...Showing up," she added.

Redemption for RCB in IPL 2025
The match itself was a tale of redemption for RCB, who avenged their rain-curtailed loss to PBKS just days earlier. Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 73 runs off 54 balls and Devdutt Padikkal’s fiery 61 runs off 35 balls powered RCB to chase down PBKS’ 157 runs in just 18.5 overs, propelling them to third place on the IPL 2025 points table with 10 points.
PBKS, despite a valiant effort, slipped to fourth, with Iyer’s six runs off 10 balls drawing scrutiny. While Iyer started the season brilliantly, scoring three fifties, including a 97-run knock against Gujarat Titans (GT), he has struggled in the last three matches, getting dismissed within single digits on all occasions.
Iyer will look to regain his form when Punjab Kings face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens on April 26.
